Why Taolia?

It is truly amazing how scents can have power over our emotions, and help us recall some old memories. Studies have shown that by lighting a candle, the released scent can drastically alleviate stress, and support a positive mood.

No matter how good of a candle smells, one should also consider what ingredients are being used in a candle. Many candles that you see on the shelves at retail stores contain high percentage of paraffin and are almost all machine made. Sometimes the placement of the wick could be off centered, which can lead to an uneven burn when lit, and that can lead to over heating the glass which can cause the glass to shatter. Straight paraffin candles can release high amounts of toxins and soot into the air, which can cause respiratory problems for sensitive people, even pets.

Our coconut wax blend candles are made with FDA approved waxes, and high quality fragrance oils sourced from our American suppliers. Not only do our candles have wonderful aromas, they also burn clean too with our 100% cotton wicks. Our hand poured candles are made in small batches to ensure quality and consistency, and we always make sure our wicks are placed in the center. No room for machine error here.

As this is an Asian owned business, we want to incorporate Asian inspired aromas into every single candle, combine with everyday scents that we’re familiar with, and thus creating a unique new scent with aromas from the East and West. Our Asian candles have unique scents such as Japanese Yuzu Candle, Lychee Scented Candle, Bamboo Candle, Rose Candle, Mandarin Kumquat Candle, and Honeysuckle Candle.

The vessels that we use are made with hand-blown borosilicate glass; a type of tempered glass that has been heat-treated for durability. This means that it will not crack under extreme temperature changes compared to regular glass. This is why we picked this type of glass to work with for our candles. The double walled borosilicate glass has an extra barrier protecting your hands from getting burned when handling a candle that has been burning for a long time. We encourage our candle users to repurpose the candle vessels post burning. Read our How To Clean & Repurpose Your Candle Vessel blog post to learn more on how to clean out leftover candle wax from your vessel.
